Moving and Transporting a Glovebox

A glovebox is a sensitive and heavy piece of equipment. When moving it, it’s crucial to dismantle it properly, transport it safely, and set it up again correctly—so that everything runs smoothly at the new location.

Whether within the building, to another location, or to a new lab: Moving a glovebox is not like moving regular furniture. The gas purification system, sensors, and piping are sensitive, the unit is quite heavy, and after setup, the inert gas atmosphere must be carefully reestablished.

What to Keep in Mind When Relocating a Glovebox

  • Proper disassembly: Disconnect gas and power supplies, secure sensitive components, and prepare airlocks and attachments.
  • Safe transport: The unit is packed securely for transport and moved with minimal vibration.
  • Installation at the new location: Set up, connect, and check the piping.
  • Commissioning & functional testing: Purge the system, regenerate the gas purification system, and check for leaks and parameter values.
  • Optional storage: If the new location is not yet ready.

Minimizing Downtime

With good planning, downtime can be minimized. We coordinate the process with you to ensure that disassembly, transport, and reassembly flow seamlessly—from a single box to a complete lab relocation. You’ll have a single point of contact for everything.

Everything from a single source

We handle disassembly, transport, assembly, and commissioning together—across all manufacturers and with experience handling sensitive inert gas systems. You can find details on the Relocation Services page. After the move, it’s a good time to have the system inspected as part of routine maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Glovebox Relocation: Frequently Asked Questions

Can't I just build my own Glovebox?

Within a single room, sometimes yes—but for a complete relocation, we advise against it. Gas purification systems, sensors, and piping are sensitive, and once the system is set up, the atmosphere must be properly restored.

Do you also handle the commissioning at the new location?

Yes. We'll set up the system, connect it, flush it, regenerate the gas purification system, and check for leaks and verify the readings before you resume work.

Can you handle a complete laboratory relocation?

Yes, from a single box to a complete relocation of multiple systems and devices—with a single point of contact for the entire process.
